The Intensive Care Foundation is leading a project to identify the priorities for future research in intensive care. What does being a partner in this process entail?

Priority Setting Partnerships bring patients, their families and clinicians together to identify shared priorities for research into the treatment of specific health problems.

The Intensive Care partnership aims to identify unanswered questions about adult intensive care and prioritise those that patients, their families and clinicians agree are the most important. The following groups of people are invited to take part in this Priority Setting Partnership: adults who have been critically ill themselves, friends and relatives of adults who has been critically ill, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals with experience of caring for critically ill adults.

How do I or my organisation/group get involved?

Register as a partner to the Intensive Care Priority Setting Partnership – this is free and quick to do – it means that you will receive updates on the progress of the partnership and be invited to take part in the following:

1. Contribute suggestions for research about intensive care – this can be online, by post or as part of a discussion group between June and September 2013.

2. Cast your votes for research questions about intensive care that you think are the most important - this will probably be online towards the end of 2013

3. Take part in a priority setting workshop – this lasts for one whole day in Spring 2014
